SNOW BATTERS
MESA THUNDERBIRDS

Undefeated Nationally Ranked #2 Badgers Win 44-6

EPHRAIM, Utah—Ocober 7, 2006— Despite leading the Mesa Thunderbirds just 10-6 at the half the Snow College left little doubt of the final outcome for the Badger faithful as they scored 34 straight points in the second half on their way to the 44-6 win.

That makes it seven in a row for the nationally ranked Badgers. For awhile it looked like Snow College was still celebrating their win last week over Glendale instead of handing Mesa their third loss in conference play.

The Badgers marched down the field on their opening possession overcoming an interception by causing a fumble on the same play and then starting over deep in their own territory. The drive ended with a 21-yard field goal by Zac Manning. The other drive in the first quarter ended with a blocked field goal and after one quarter the badgers had a lot of yards in offense, but just three points.

Early in the second quarter Cade Cooper hit Adam Frandsen on a 25-yard touchdown to make it 10-0. The Thunderbirds made it interesting by scoring on a 78-yard pass from Brice Wilkins to Vince Anderson. The extra point failed and the Badgers still led 10-6 as the half expired.

The second half was all Badgers as Matt Asiata scored three rushing touchdowns of one, nine, and two yards. Alex Richards scored on a nine-yard pass from Cooper and Colt Mund finished the scoring on a 30 yard run with 1:59 left in the game.

Asiata finished with 114 yards rushing and Cooper had over 450 yards passing, two interceptions and two touchdowns. Frandsen finished with 173 yards receiving, richards 82 and Asiata 60. The Badger offense accumulated over 600 yards in total offense while the defense held Mesa to just 13 yards rushing.

Snow College will be at home again next weekend as they host the other undefeated team in the WSFL, the Scottsdale Artichokes.
