BADGERS IMPROVE TO 2-0 OVERALL
by Tyler Hughes

Badgers Still Ranked #2

Snow College opened their home schedule with the Australian Nationals. Complete domination from start to finish saw the Badgers picking up a 69-0 victory.

Snow started fast when sophomore wideout Kimball Burton returned the opening kickoff 83 yards for the Badgers to build an early 7-0 lead. Burton was able to go untouched as the Badger kick return team saw their first return go for a touchdown since the 2004 season when Deondrick Nunez returned four kicks for scores during that season.

After the defense held the Australians to a three and out on their first possession, things got worse as their punt team took the field. The long snap went sailing over their punters head and out the back of the end zone to give Snow a 9-0 advantage.

Snow was then able to make quick work on their first offensive possession as Jon Eastman found Kyle Hatch for their third touchdown connection on the season – this one from 43 yards out.

The rout was completely on as after Australia’s next possession Regan Buck ran back a punt for 65 yards, which saw Snow leading 23-0 midway through the first quarter.

Snow was able to pile on it as the game progressed while Kyle Hatch scored on another strike from Eastman as did Kimball Burton on a 10 yard connection. Soni Sotele, a sophomore running back from West Valley City, Utah was able to reach pay dirt on two occasions in the 1st half as Snow handled their opponent with ease.

The Badger defense handled the Australians as they held their opponents to -22 total yards of offense while forcing two turnovers and recording four sacks.

The shutout recorded by the Badger defense marked their first on the season and their third in two seasons.

“We did our job. We played to the level that we expect our guys to play at and that was an important aspect to draw from this game. We are moving right along in the season and are now looking forward to playing again next week,” said Badger head coach Steve Coburn.

The Badgers will remain at home for the second consecutive week. They play host to Pima CC (Tuscon, AZ). The Storm are currently 1-1 and will face the Badgers who have now improved to 2-0 overall. The game time is set for 1:30 PM and can be heard locally on 650-KMTI or here at www.snowbadgers.com.
