SNOW FOOTBALL: BADGERS BOUNCE BEARS 27-7
by Greg Dart

EPHRAIM – Snow College’s football team continued its winning ways with a 27-7 victory over Phoenix College Saturday at Badger Stadium.

The Badgers started the scoring earlier with a 37 yard Joe Phillips field goal just four minutes into the game and never looked back.

Running back Muka Atiga scored on a one-yard run in the first quarter, amassing 72 total yards for the game.  Running back Tyson Church led the Badger ground attack with 154 yards in the game.

Fullback Mike Meifu caught a three-yard Quinn Mecham pass for the Badgers second score, taking a 17-0 lead into halftime.

Snow turned to its bag of tricks on a double reverse pass in the third quarter when receiver Regan Buck connected with Mazi Ogbonna for a 37-yard scoring strike. Ogbonna caught three balls for 73 yards in the game.

The Badgers tacked on another field goal and gave up their lone touchdown with six minutes remaining in the game.

“Overall, I feel good about our effort,” said head coach Steve Coburn. “We played hard, showed our strength.” Snow finished with 392 yards of total offense, while only allowing 177.

And speaking of strength, the Badger defense displayed an oustanding effort. While limiting Phoenix to just 177 yards, the Badgers were also able to limit the Bears to converting on just 2 of 14 3rd down attempts. Tim House, Phoenix's star running back, was held to 34 yards on 13 carries for a paltry 2.6 yard average.
