Badgers Receive National Attention

Ephraim-Several former Snow College football teams received national attention this week for their on-the-field performance. Here are just a few Badgers who made headlines:

Utah and former Snow running back Matt Asiata rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns in the Utes season opening win over Utah State Thursday night. Asiata was an integral part of Snow’s 2005 and 2006 teams.

BYU safety Andrew Rich, who played at Snow in 2007, had five tackles (including one for a loss) and forced two fumbled in the Cougars 14-13 victory over No. 3 Oklahoma in Dallas Saturday. Rich was named the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

BYU linebacker Coleby Clawson, who grew up in Wales and was an All-American at Snow, made national headlines when he delivered the hit that sent Oklahoma’s Heisman winner Sam Bradford to the turf and out for two to four weeks. Clawson delivered the clean hit in the second quarter of the Cougars 14-13 win over the Sooners.

2006 National Junior College Athletic Association player of the year Cade Cooper got his game time action since he left Snow three years ago, throwing two touchdowns and leading Southern Utah University to a 36-7 victory over Dixie State College Thursday. Cooper was 16-19 for 179 yards.
