Britt Maughan will enter his third season as the linebacker coach at Snow College.  In addition to his linebacking duties he also serves as the team’s Recruiting Coordinator.

In Coach Maughan’s second season, his linebackers helped propel the Badgers to a number one national ranking in team defense.  Leading the way was standout middle linebacker Josh Sharp.  Maughan helped develop Sharp into a former walk-on into an NJCAA 1st Team All-American.  Sharp tallied over 60 tackles including 18 for loss as well as picking up 4 sacks and returning one interception for a touchdown.  Sharp was accompanied by defensive points leader, Shane Hunter.  Hunter picked up 10.5 sacks which was one-fourth of the team’s sack total.  Hunter walked-on at Brigham Young University.  Finally, Josh Anderson started at strong-side linebacker and is now on scholarship at Bucknell University of the Patriot League in Division I-FCS.

Coach Maughan made an immediate impact for the Badgers as the team’s linebackers coach in 2006.

The team’s strong-side linebacker, JD Folsom, was a 1st Team WSFL All-Conference selection and signed a scholarship to continue his playing career at Weber State University.  Chad Gochis was the weak side linebacker in 2006 and he also received an offer to play at Weber State.

In his first season with the Badgers, the linebackers provided significant contributions for one of the nation’s top ranked defenses, while providing constant pressure on opposing quarterbacks as well as playing tough against the run.

Before coming to Snow College, Maughan was a coach in the high school ranks for two Utah high schools.  Britt served on Ben Lomond’s staff from 2003-2005.  In 2004 and 2005, Maughan worked as the team’s offensive coordinator while in 2003, he was the team’s running backs coach.

In 2002, Maughan coached for his Alma Matter as Weber High’s offensive and defensive line coach.  The Warriors enjoyed a 6-4 season and a state tournament bid.

As a player, Maughan was an All-Region linebacker while playing for Weber High.

Maughan is originally from Ogden, Utah and is married to the former Amanda Munns.  The couple makes their home in Ephraim.
