LONG
TRIP - SHORT STAY
by Gary Chidester Lady Badgers Fall to SLCC, Badgers Fall To CEU EPHRAIM,
UTAH-March 9, 2006-The Snow College Badgers had a long trip to
the Scenic West Athletic Conference tournament, but short stay when the
Lady Badgers fell 86-68 to the Lady Bruins of SLCC and the men lost 83-67
to the College of Eastern Utah. The Lady Badgers played on their first round game on Wednesday and were in the game at the half trailing by just three 31-34. The effort was made possible by balanced scoring and a rebounding edge of 21-16. Seven players made it into the scoring column in the first half led by Tori Lybbert who had nine points and four rebounds. Andrea Medler who made first team all-conference had six rebounds and four points. The second half saw the Lady Badgers fall behind little by little despite the continued effort of Lybbert who finished with a game high 26 points and ten rebounds. The Lady Bruins blistered the nets in the second half shooting 73 percent from the field.
If you believe that basketball is a game of matchups, the Badgers just
don't matchup well with CEU. Snow College lost their fourth straight to
the Golden Eagles in their first round game of the SWAC tournament on
Thursday.Snow trailed by 12 at the half, but started the second half with seven straight points to cut the lead to just five. That was the as close as the Badgers could get however. After a CEU timeout, the golden eagles went on a run of their own to seal the win and advance in the tournament. Jake Peterson led the Badgers with 18 points, 12 of those points came from behind the three-point line. Dante Green added 15, Tyler Quinney came off the bench to score 12 and the league MVP Geoff Payne, suffering from a bad case of the flu, scored 13 in the losing effort.
