Badgers Win Home Opener, Move to 2-1

EPHRAIM, Utah-November 13, 2006- Snow College defeated Casper College 70-51 Friday night in the 2006-07 home opener. The Badgers demonstrated greater depth once again on a night when Geoff Payne played just 25 minutes due to illness. Snow took a 38-24 halftime lead and then increased the advantage in the second half.

"The difference in this one was defense - team defense," remarked Roger Reid, Snow's head coach. "Holding a team to 51 points is an accomplishment. I was particularly pleased with (Brian) Cameron and (Chris) Hoopes. Their efforts seemed to be contagious to the rest of the guys."

Payne led the way offensively with 19 points. Adrien Sturt, Snow's freshman center from Australia, continued his strong offensive play with 14 points; and John Clifford, Snow's sophomore center from Bingham, scored nine points. Chris Hoopes joined the leaders with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

"We're coming offensively - we need to execute better," said Reid. "Payne has picked up right where he left off."

Snow goes on the road for another tournament before hosting the first annual Norbest Thanksgiving Tournament at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield November 24-25. The tournament was made possible by a generous donation from Norbest and Moroni Feed.
