Badgers Are 6-1 In Preseason

The Snow College Men's basketball team has started the season with a 6-1 preseason mark after winning the first Norbest Classic Tournament held in Richfield, Utah on the Snow College Richfield campus.

The Badgers blasted Treasure Valley CC 101- in a rematch of former SWAC foes. The Badgers were led by Geoff Payne with 25 points. Payne was a miraculous 11 of 12 from the field and scored his 25 points in just 25 minutes. John Clifford had 15 points, Mark Munford and Chris Hoopes added 11 points and Adrien Sturt chipped in 10 for the Badger win on Friday.

Saturday the Badgers beat up on Mt. Hood College and came away with the 75-51 win. Jake Peterson led Snow College with 14 points as five Badgers made it to double figure scoring. Sturt had 12 points, Rick Roberts and Clifford had 11 each and Payne had 10 in the Badger win. Roberts also led Snow College with six rebounds.

The other preseason Badger wins includes a 74-64 win over Western Wyoming, Payne finished with 19 points and seven rebounds, Peterson had 17 points and four assists, Roberts and Sturt each added ten points. A 98-89 win over Laramie County was led by 46 points by Payne, 13 from Tyler Quinney and ten from Hoopes.

Casper College fell to the Badgers 70-51. Payne again led the Badgers with 19 points. Hoopes had 14 points and ten rebounds and Sturt also added 14 points. The Badgers lost their only game of the year came at the hands of the Arizona Western Matadors in their first game of the year 68-71. Payne still led the Badgers with 25 points and seven rebounds, Hoopes added 15 points, Sturt had 12 and Brian Cameron added ten.

The Badgers bounced right back to win 82-66 over Western Wyoming. Payne finished with 25 points and five rebounds, Sturt had 18 points and five rebounds, while Peterson finished with 12 points and four steals.

Snow College will wrap up their pre-season games Thursday night against the Salt Lake All-stars in the Activity Center before starting the regular season next week against Salt Lake Community College.
