BADGERS COME UP BIG
IN GAME 2 VERSUS SLCC

by Tyler Hughes

Geoff Payne Has Big Game Badgers Win 65-57

Coming off a huge victory the night before versus Salt Lake Community College, the Badgers were able to duplicate the feat while defeating the Bruins by a score of 67-57.

Snow College controlled this game from buzzer to buzzer although the score remained tight for the most part. Snow was able to jump out to an early 10-0 lead over their rival and that lead was one that the Badgers would not relinquish for the entire ball game.

A key factor in Snow’s victory was their play at the defensive end. Salt Lake connected on only six of their first twenty-five shots and was constantly harassed by great play from Badger defenders. The Bruins were only able to shoot 34% from the field compared to Snow College’s 56.1%.

The Bruins had absolutely no answer for Badger forward, Geoff Payne. Salt Lake attempted to change their match-up with Payne; however no defender was able to slow him down. Payne finished the ball game with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Badger point guard, Jake Peterson, also posed problems for the Bruins as he added 15 points and 6 assists.

Two wins in two games versus Salt Lake Community was a major boost to the Badgers down the stretch as they improved their record to 16-6 overall and to 8-4 in conference. The win moves the Badger into 2nd place in the conference with eight conference games to go.

Snow College is in action again this weekend versus North Idaho College. Tip off is set for 7:30 PM and the games can be heard locally on KMTI-Am 650 and right here on SnowBadgers.com.
