BADGERS BACK ON WINNING TRACK
WITH WIN AT COLORADO NORTHWESTERN

by Tyler Hughes

Badgers Pick Up Victory 96-89

Snow College was back to their winning ways while traveling to Rangeley, CO to face the Spartans of Colorado Northwestern. The Badgers picked up the victory with a 96-89 score while improving their overall record to 10-7 as well as getting their first conference win under first year Badger coach, Michael Ostlund.

The Badgers were able to put points on the board early and often against the Spartans which is quickly becoming a trademark of a Coach Ostlund team; that is a team that can score in bunches and applies constant pressure to an opponent’s defensive efforts.

Leading the way for Snow College was freshman Brady Hurst who netted 27 for the Badgers. Hurst was 10-15 from the field and was also a force off of the glass while pulling down 18 rebounds. Hurst’s numbers reached game-highs for either squad in points and rebounds.

“Hurst was dominant inside for us. This was his best collegiate game,” said Ostlund iin regards to Hurst’s performance.

Three other Badgers reached double figures including the conference’s fourth leading scorer, Rene Farias (16.7 PPG) with 20, Ryan Brimley with 15 and Rory Patterson chipped in 11.

Coach Ostlund was pleased to get the first conference win under his young team’s belt. “We are improving. Our turnovers are decreasing each game, we can play better defense, but I feel overall they played well. It was big to get this win – especially that it was on the road.”

The Badgers will be in action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Eastern Utah to face the Golden Eagles.
