Badgers Dominate CNCC 81-43

EPHRAIM —After a tough road loss last weekend against Salt Lake Community College the Snow College Basketball team got back to it’s winning ways dominating Colorado Northwest Community College 81-43 to even up it’s Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) record at 1-1 and moved to 14-3 overall.

Some questioned how the Badgers would respond without pre-season All-American Rory Patterson. It was learned earlier in the day that Patterson would miss at least six weeks with a grade-three Medial Collateral Ligament sprain and torn cartilage. However, replacement

Riley Crosbie answered the starting bell and chipped in six points and 13 rebounds in 25 minutes and four Badgers scored in double figures to easily get past the Spartans.

“This was the bounce-back game we needed,” said Coach Michael Ostlund. “I think the defensive intensity in the first half was the real difference.”

Indeed the Badger D was strong all night long holding the Spartans to 23 percent shooting for the game and out-rebounding CNCC 51-23.

“I really like to see our balanced scoring,” added Ostlund. “We thought we might have to shorten the bench with the loss of Rory, but it was nice to see all 11 guys contribute.”

The game also marked the return of back-up point guard Brennan Davis who underwent heart surgery just 10 days ago. Davis sparked the Badgers with seven assists off the bench.

“He gives us a big lift,” said Ostlund. “We monitored his minutes and kept him fresh and he really produced. Having him back will certainly help us throughout the conference schedule.”

Starting point guard Donnie Lao bounced back from a tough outing in Salt Lake by scoring 15 points. Cameron Evans pitched in 12, Ryan Brimley and Jordan Rex had 11 and 10 respectively.

The Badgers now face off against highly rated rival College of Eastern Utah tomorrow evening at 5:00 PM in the Snow College Gymnasium.
