SNOW PICKS UP TWO WINS AT NORBEST SANPETE SHOOTOUT
by Greg Dart

EPHRAIM - The Snow College Men's basketball team continues to roll winning twice over the weekend in the Nobest Sanpete Shootout.

On Saturday, Ryan Brimley hit nine of 12 three-point shots enroute to a game-high 33 points to lead the Badgers to a 88-75 win over Yavapi College of Arizona. The sharp-shooting Sophomore from Salt Lake City (Hillcrest) went on a tear to start the second half hitting six of seven attempts to hold the Roughriders at bay.

Fellow Sophomore and preseason All-American Rory Patterson from Logan High School added 20 to help the Badgers improve to 6-1 on the season.

The Badgers and Roughriders were locked in a tight battle with Snow leading 28-27 when Patterson went to work scoring 10 of his 20 in the final three minutes during a 15-3 run that ended up being too much for Yavpai to overcome.

"That's what you want your All-American to do," said Badger Head Coach Michael Ostlund. "He was the emotional leader leader tonight."

If Patterson was the spark, Brimley was the finisher in the second half scoring 23 of his points in the final stanza.

"He was unbelievable," said Ostlund. "It is nice to know that you can turn to your veterans to carry you when times are tough."

Brimley has now connected on 17 of his last 21 3-point attempts on the season.

On Friday, the Badgers used 14 players and a balanced approach and a stifling defense to cruise to a 92-53 victory over Trinidad State College. The Badgers forced 31 turnovers and held Trinidad State to 23-percent in while shooting 72-percent in the second half en-route to the easy win.

Freshman Melvin Haynes led the balanced Badger attack with 15 points while Patterson added 10.

The Badgers next play in the Sevier Valley Classic next Friday and Saturday at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield.
