Jake started his coaching career while attending UVSC, when he connected with well-known player development coach Ray Stewart. He still assists Ray with camps at Open Court in Lehi, Utah.

Jake was an assistant coach at Spanish Fork High School during the 2002-3 basketball season.

Jake moved to Lone Peak High School for the 2003-5 basketball seasons where he was an assistant varsity coach with Quincy Lewis. The team had a combined record of 42-6 those two seasons. The team won the region championship each year, the first for the school, and also won the state championship the second year Jake was on the staff.

For the 2005-7 basketball seasons, Jake moved to Laie, Hawaii where he was an assistant coach with BYU-Hawaii under long time coach Ken Wagner. The team record those two seasons was 34-19 and the team completed the second season with an appearance in the national tournament.

During his second season at BYU-Hawaii, Jake assisted the Golden State Warriors with the their training camp held at BYU-Hawaii.

If Jake has spare time, it is spent attending sporting events, it usually does not matter the sport. He enjoys camping, especially on family property in Argyle Canyon. He loves being with family and cannot wait to be a dad. Jake also enjoys working with his grandpa in his cabinet shop.

Jake was born and raised in Huntington, Utah is married to Heather Winget of Laie, Hawaii and are expecting their first child, a boy, this November.
