Michael Ostlund was introduced as head men’s basketball coach at Snow College April 17, 2007. He brings with him eleven years of college basketball coaching experience and has been well prepared for his first head coaching job.
Athletic Director Gary McKenzie pointed to three key factors in the selection of Coach Ostlund to lead the Badgers basketball program: “We are excited about his ENTHUSIASM, and his ability to RECRUIT, particularly the state of Utah. We are also excited that he will be an ASSET to the CAMPUS & COMMUNITY.”
Coach O on Enthusiasm:
“I learned at a very young age as a player that the more enthusiasm
you put into the game, the more successful you can become. Coaches and
fans have used many words to describe this basic principle. Call it intensity,
desire, passion, playing hard…enthusiasm is all of those things
put together. If you approach the game with enthusiasm, you prepare yourself
to have a very rewarding experience, and winning has a way of following
you around.”
Coach O on Recruiting:
“Homegrown Utah talent, including freshmen right out of high
school as well as LDS returned missionaries will be the foundation of
our recruiting classes. The talent level in Utah is always strong, and
the players are well coached in high school. I also believe that basketball
programs can be made stronger through diversity, and I will utilize every
relationship I have to bring in talented athletes and high quality people.”
