LADY BADGERS SPLIT TWO
GAME HOME STAND WITH CEU

by Tyler Hughes

Defeat Golden Eagles 73-65

The Lady Badgers concluded their home schedule for the 2007-08 season while hosting in-state rival, Eastern Utah.  Snow College was able to pick up a win on Friday evening in exciting fashion while dropping Saturday afternoon’s contest.

Listed below are the game summaries.

GAME 1

The Lady Badgers trailed for the majority of the first half but used great shooting from beyond the arc just before halftime en route to a 73-65 victory.

Snow College trailed 31-22 with just over two minutes to play but a fury of three-point buckets by Badger shooters helped in a 15-2 run to close out the half and to build momentum in the second half.

Vanessa Riggs and Chelsey Brown each connected on multiple attempts from the outside.  Riggs, for her efforts, lead all scorers with 20 points while also pulling down 6 rebounds and dishing out 3 assists.

One of the key elements to Snow’s win was its rebounding advantage.  The Lady Badgers seemingly came down with the ball off of every shot attempt in the second half as they outrebounded the Golden Eagles 46-36.  Cori Nielson grabbed 12 for Snow which helped her attain a double-double while also chipping in 14 points.  Sophomore Lindsie Wilson netted 13 points and hauled in 9 rebounds.

GAME 2

With the Lady Badger sophomores closing out their career at Snow College, they hoped to pick up the win to send themselves off in winning fashion.  Eastern Utah spoiled those plans, however, while rolling to a 99-76 win over Snow College.

Snow College and Eastern Utah traded buckets throughout the first half as the score was 42-39 in favor of the Golden Eagles at the intermission.  Unfortunately the second half was all Golden Eagles as Snow had difficulty getting defensive stops.

The Golden Eagles featured two players who scored over 20 points with Kendra Dalebout and Erin Richardson netting 26 and 20 respectively.  The two Eastern Utah stars led towards the win as the Eagles as team shot 65.7% from the field in the second half.

The Lady Badgers however did see a great performance from sophomore Cori Nielson.  Nielson led all Snow scorers with 23 while also pulling down 12 rebounds, 10 of which were on the offensive end.  Freshman F/C Amy Parkinson also added 18 for Snow College off of the bench.  Parkinson displayed a great of athleticism and shooting touch and is definitely going to be a major building block for Coach Lindsay in the future.

At the conclusion of this weekend’s action, Snow College moves to 12-15 overall with a 5-8 conference record.  The Lady Badgers are in action this weekend at North Idaho.  They will play on Friday and Saturday with tip-offs for both games being at 5:30 PM and 1:00 PM respectively.
