LADY BADGERS IMPROVE RECORD TO 9-6 HEADING INTO SWAC PLAY

ROCK SPRINGS, WYO - The Snow College Lady Badgers continued their winning ways over the weekend and moved their winning streak to four straight and seven of their last eight by defeating Central Wyoming College 79-63 on Friday night and Western Wyoming 74-63 on Saturday.

The re-emergence of Sophomore Cami Hymas in the Lady Badger lineup has been much needed since starting small forward Linsey Hodgkiss’ injury. Hymas paced a balanced Lady Badger attack on Friday scoring 15 points and pulling down 7 rebounds.

“Cami is a real leader for us.” Said Coach Cindy Lindsay. “To see her battle back from her season-ending injury a year ago to where she is now has been an inspiration for us. The fact that she can contribute significantly on the court is an added bonus.”

Hymas has seen limited action, but the hand injury to Hodgkiss has launched Hymas back into a key role for the Lady Badgers, who also had six points and six rebounds in the win on Saturday.

Torle Nenbee continued her stellar play by scoring 12 points and pulling down nine rebounds in the victory against Central Wyoming. She followed that up with a 20-point six-rebound effort on Saturday. She finished nine-of-eleven from the field in the contest.

“Torlee continues to get better and better.” Said Lindsay.

Other key contributors over the weekend included Sophomore Shaylee Nielsen who scored in double figures (12 and 11) in both games. Taesha Higbee also bounced back from an injured hip to score 11 points in Saturday’s win over Western Wyoming.

Freshman Amy Weitzel continues to improve and added 8 and 12 points in the two wins.

Next up the Lady Badgers face-off in a rivalry game at Salt Lake Community College (3 PM Saturday) to open the SWAC season.
