SNOW COLLEGE WOMEN DOMINATE ALUMNI ALL-STARS
EPHRAIM – The Snow College Lady Badgers continued their winning ways Tuesday night by defeating a group of former Snow College Alumni All-Stars 103-56 at the Snow College Gymnasium. The win was the Lady Badgers fourth in a row and moved them above .500 for the first time this season (7-6).
Torle Nenbee, the Sophomore sensation from Nigeria also continued to impress scoring 24 points and pulling down 16 rebounds to lead a balanced Lady Badger attack where 6 players scored in double figures.
Cami Hymas, the Sophomore from South Jordan continued to overcome her torn ACL and MCL injuries from a year ago and scored 13 points. Hymas, who was on her way to being the Freshman of the year in conference last year before going down with the injury has battled back and despite wearing a heavy brace.
“It was nice to finally beat an all-star team,” said Sophomore Shaylee Nielsen who finished with 8 points and 3 rebounds in the contest. Earlier this season the Lady Badgers were defeated by the Utah County All-Stars and Central Utah All-Stars.
After leading 42-26 at the half, Nenbee led a second half scoring binge in which the Lady Badgers posted 61 points on 61 percent shooting. Nenbee connected on 10-13 from the field and 4-5 from the line.
Abbie Buetler (12 points), Amy Weitzel (10 points), Celeste Wouden (10 points) and Tara Gehring (10 points), were the other Lady Badgers to score in double figures.
Next up is a two-game road trip to end the pre-season at Central and Western Wyoming this weekend.
Snow College, founded in 1888, serves
approximately 3,000 students at its Ephraim campus. The college provides
general education and applied technology programs leading to Associate
of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science and Associate
of Pre-Engineering degrees, and certificates of completion in a number
of occupational areas. Once
owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Snow College
became a state college in 1932.
