Lady Badgers Stonewall CNCC 89-41

EPHRAIM - The Snow College Lady Badgers continued their hot streak winning for the sixth straight time and nine of the last ten by stonewalling Colorado Northwest Community College (CNCC) 89-41 Friday night at the Snow College Gymnasium.

The win moves the Lady Badgers into first place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) at 2-0 and now stand 11-6 overall.

Shaylee Nielsen, Amy Parkinson and Torle Nenbee each had 11 points as the Lady Badgers placed six players in double figures. The game also marked the return of Freshman Linsey
Hodgkiss who scored 6 points in 14 minutes. Hodgkiss had surgery on her hand just three weeks ago but has come back strong to help the deep Lady Badger squad.

“This was the kind of game we hoped for,” said Coach Cindy Lindsay. “Our kids came out focused and ready to play from the opening tip. Now we have to keep the momentum going.”

The Lady Badgers dominated from the beginning jumping out to a 42-21 halftime lead and never looked back. They forced 31 CNCC turnovers and out-rebounded the Lady Spartans 52-24. Parkinson also added four of the Lady Badger six blocked shots.

Celeste Wouden came off the bench to once again give the Lady Badgers strong play with nine points and nine rebounds. In all, 11 of the Lady Badger 13 players scored and all 13 played at least eight minutes.

“Our depth is a key,” said Lindsay. “We don’t lose anything when we go to our bench. “

CNCC was paced by Markie Workman and Carmelita Begay who scored 13 each.

Next up for the Lady Badgers is a showdown against rival College of Eastern Utah on Saturday afternoon at the Snow College Gymnasium.
