Lady Badgers Headed To SWAC Tournament

There was a lot riding on this weekend for the Lady Badgers. With an eye on a second-place conference finish and a first-round bye in this weekend's tournament, Snow College battled the first place Lady Bruins of Salt Lake Community College on Thursday losing on a buzzer beater 64-62.

With fourth-place secured, the Lady Badgers returned to Salt Lake on Saturday only to have another nail-biter. With 12 seconds remaining Snow cut the Salt Lake lead to 77-76. Their full-court pressure caused a steal and two attempts at taking the lead. Both shots came up short and the Lady Bruins escaped with a 79-76 victory and a regular season conference championship.

In the four games against SLCC there was a total differential of three points - the margin of Saturday's Lady Bruin victory. And it is very possible the two will meet for a fifth time at the Conference Tournament.

"We continue to battle," said Coach Cindy Lindsay. "We have had an outstanding season and this (the Conference Tournament) means a lot to our kids."

The Lady Badgers finished the regular season with a 21-9 record and 12-8 in the difficult Scenic West Athletic Conference. They do however carry one of the most versatile and dangerous teams to the tournament having defeated every conference foe at least once.

Snow will square off against host CEU on Thursday night at 5 PM with an opportunity to move on to Friday's semifinal rematch against SLCC.

"CEU will be up for us on Thursday," Lindsay said. "They will have the home court and the fans will be there in force. We will have to bring it in order to advance."

All-Conference teams will be honored at the tournament and it is very likely that several Lady Badgers will receive honors.
